SPINELLI MONTEPULCIANO D'ABRUZZO DOC 750 ml

The Spinelli winery, launched in 1973 by Vincenzo Spinelli, has seen steady and dramatic growth in its 49-year history. Located in Abruzzo, almost directly east of Rome near Italy’s east coast, the winery has seen more and more family members join the fold through the years. Today, Vincenzo’s sons, Carlo and Adriano, manage the business and its production of about 580,000 cases of wine per year.

Montepulciano is the key red grape of Abruzzo. It produces approachable and plucky wines with plenty of fruit. Deep ruby in colour, this version entices with flavours of cherry, strawberry and red licorice, plus notes of cedar, vanilla, raspberry and a hint of all-spice. It’s juicy and lively, with ripe tannins and enough acidity to nicely balance the touch of sweetness. A great weekday wine.
