Description:

This historic house prides itself as being a harbinger of the traditional style. The estate was founded in 1761, making it the oldest continuously operating winery in Barolo, although today the family cites 1848 as the date of the official establishment, coinciding with a document dated 1848 that attests to Borgognos first wine sale.

Especially notable is Borgogno's library collection of older vintage Barolo, one they've diligently safeguarded since before WWII. The family continues the practice of cellaring considerable amounts of wine from the very best vintages even today. They periodically re-release, providing the rare opportunity to enjoy perfectly cellared, historic-vintage Barolo. This is truly the best way to understand how traditional Barolo was meant to be experienced.

With such a long and traditional history, this Langhe Nebbiolo is an interesting twist for Borgogno. "No Name" is a protest wine that gained popular traction with Italian wine-drinking millennials. The wine was first born as a Barolo made in a more approachable and softer style, but the results were declassified by the appellation authorities. No Name was born in that spirit. Nebbiolo grapes are macerated with a submerged cap for up to 24 days. The wine delivers on its promise of easy appeal, bright fruit flavours and soft tannins.

Appearance: Intense garnet red in colour with orange reflections.
Nose: Aromas of red flowers, violets, herbs and red fruits.
Taste: The taste is long, savoury and fresh, with smooth tannins.
